Questions to Ask When Interviewing DJs
Finding the right DJ is one of your most important tasks when planning the Big Day. After all, the right DJ can make your ceremony feel dreamy and romantic and he can also make your reception feel truly entertaining – so it is more than worth investing the time you need to find someone who is truly suitable for your wedding style.
What are some of the most important questions to ask when interviewing DJs? Read on and find out more.
• The absolute basics. These are the questions that will give you a vague idea of who the person in front of you really is. Ask about the DJ’s experience, about the weddings he has worked before, about his availability, and so on. Also, ask him to give you at least 3 references from previous clients, so that you can ask them of their opinions.
• The business details. These may be the least entertaining questions you will have to ask – but they are really important. Ask about the deposit, about the refund policy and about the contract. Also, ask about the prices he practices (and what happens if he has to stay overtime). Last, but definitely not least, ask if he has liability insurance and if he has a backup plan in case he cannot be there for the Big Day.
• The music itself. Obviously, you will have to ask your DJ about his musical style as well. For example, we suggest that you ask about his music library. Furthermore, ask about the type of equipment your DJ will use (and if he will need you to rent anything else).
